Sophea Sin is an advisor in Tilleke & Gibbins’ Phnom Penh office. Sophea’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial transactions, real estate, and banking and finance. She assists international investors with business expansion and operation, market entry, and ongoing compliance with regulatory authorities. Sophea specializes in a number of industries, including manufacturing, food and beverage, garments, and property.

The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2018  recognizes Sophea as a “Next Generation Lawyer” in the directory’s guide to up-and-coming practitioners in the region. She is the youngest Tilleke & Gibbins lawyer to have received the honor.

Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Sophea worked as an advisor in the corporate and commercial department of a leading law firm in Cambodia. Sophea received an undergraduate degree in law from the Royal University of Law and Economics, and she graduated with a master of laws from the University of Lumiere Lyon II. Sophea is fluent in Khmer and English, and she has a working knowledge of French and Mandarin.

  • Provided a due diligence report for a Chinese company to ensure its compliance with stock exchange regulations. Reviewed all relevant documents and advised the client on potential noncompliance issues.

  • Assisted a Portuguese company to set up its garment factory in Cambodia. Helped to obtain project approval from the Council for the Development of Cambodia and secured tax exemptions on profits for nine years.

  • Provide a due diligence report for a client that was considering an acquisition of a hotel and resort located in Siem Reap. Conducted due diligence on corporate compliance, property, financial status, and other related matters.

  • Assisted a German company to secure their debt assignment in a transaction with the Cambodian Government. Reviewed the compliance agreement, negotiated with the Cambodian Government, and submitted an opinion to a bank as the creditor.
