The nominees for Key Media’s New Zealand Law Awards 2016 have been announced, and Tilleke & Gibbins has been shortlisted for the “M&A Deal of the Year” award based on the firm’s participation in a deal in which Pacific Equity Partners acquired Academic Colleges Group. Tilleke & Gibbins’ work on the transaction was led by Vinh Quoc Nguyen, a senior attorney-at-law in the firm’s Ho Chi Minh City office. Fellow nominees on both sides of this transaction include Chapman Tripp, Frasers Law Company, Herbert Smith Freehills, Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung, and Russell McVeagh.
The award recognizes a law firm’s involvement in an outstanding deal, and the winner will be determined based on the size, complexity, breadth, and innovation of the deal. To assist in determining the winner, researchers at Key Media are conducting interviews with leading practitioners and inhouse counsel, collecting third-party information, and drawing on their own stock of industry knowledge.
