Roundtable Discussions in Hanoi and HCMC Focus on IP Awareness and the Media

JICA and Vietnam’s National Office of Intellectual Property

Loc Xuan Le and Trung Nguyen participated in roundtable discussions on IP enforcement organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and Vietnam’s National Office of Intellectual Property. Loc and Trung head the IP enforcement efforts in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, respectively, for TGVN, Tilleke’s associate firm for local IP filings in Vietnam.

The events, held in Hanoi on August 9 and Ho Chi Minh City on August 12, focused on the role of the press in improving IP awareness in Vietnam. The roundtables convened representatives from the MOST Inspectorate, Market Surveillance Agency, Economic Police, Anti-Smuggling Investigation Agency, and various press agencies. Loc, in Hanoi, and Trung, in Ho Chi Minh City, were invited to present the perspective of IP practitioners, and spoke on the advantages and disadvantages of various methods of IP enforcement available to businesses, while also sharing some case studies from their daily practice.

Loc’s post-event interview with An Ninh Thu Do  (Vietnamese only) can be seen here, while a summary of the Hanoi event is available on the MOST website (also in Vietnamese).
