Hong Thi Thanh Do is an experienced patent executive whose practice focuses primarily on the life sciences. With a degree from the Hanoi University of Pharmacy, she specializes in patent cases in the pharmaceutical sector, as well as in related fields such as biology, chemistry, and agrochemicals, and has managed patent portfolios for some of the world’s top companies in these areas. Hong has successfully completed training courses in patent drafting conducted by the Japanese Patent Office, the European Patent Office, and FICPI, and is a qualified plant variety representative in Vietnam. Before joining Tilleke & Gibbins, she spent 12 years with a top Vietnamese IP law firm.
- Managed more than 400 patent cases filed in Vietnam in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, chemistry, biology, and biochemistry fields.
- Handled patent portfolios for some of the world’s largest companies in pharmaceuticals, biochemistry, and agrochemicals.
- Translated patent specifications in many fields from English into Vietnamese and prepared documents for filing patent applications with the Vietnam IP Office.
- Advised clients on amending claims and specifications to meet the requirements for patent protection.
- Advised clients on assignments of patent applications and IP agent transfers, and prepared the required documents to submit to the Vietnam IP Office.
- Advised and supported foreign clients on matters of Vietnamese patent law, such as priority rights, refusal/cancellation, appeal, patent searches, and procedures and costs for new applications and renewals.
