Thuy has a wide range of experience, both in the field and behind the desk, and serves an especially key role as an interface between the firm’s investigation team and overseas brand owners, skillfully transforming the collected results of assorted market surveys into concise yet comprehensive reports, analyzing seriousness of infringements, and giving advice on enforcement actions.
- Assisted an American stuffed toy manufacturer in a trademark infringement case that resulted in the infringer’s voluntary withdrawal and destruction of over 300 units of the infringing products.
- Regularly conducts in-person training presentations for customs and enforcement authorities throughout Vietnam on identifying and distinguishing counterfeit and genuine goods on behalf of clients in various industry sectors, including cosmetics and electronics.
- Assisted a Japanese pharmaceutical company in a trademark infringement case, in which the infringer ceased making the product bearing the infringing mark. Significantly, the infringer voluntarily withdrew their application for the infringing mark before the Vietnam IP Office.
- Advised and assisted multiple fashion, cosmetics, and auto manufacturers in actions against trademark infringement and counterfeit goods, resulting in the seizure and destruction of these products, heavy sanctions imposed on the infringers, and suspension of their business activities for several months.
- Assisted multiple clients in retrieving domain names, including amicably negotiating with an individual to return a domain name without any reimbursement, and persuading another individual to voluntarily surrender an infringing domain name to the registrar so our client could register it after expiration.
- Regularly advises clients on border measures such as customs recordal, customs seizure, and customs searches.
- Successfully dealt with a company which used pirated software, and then agreed to purchase licensed software from our client.
- Successfully worked with numerous infringers to force them to hand over inventories of IP-infringing goods.
