Biography

Nwe Oo is a senior associate at Tilleke & Gibbins’ Myanmar office. With a focus on corporate and commercial law, Nwe brings a wealth of experience to his practice. As a former prosecutor, he possesses a deep understanding of civil and criminal commercial matters, having successfully handled primary cases, appeals, and amendment cases in the Divisional Court and Supreme Court of Myanmar. Nwe's commitment to excellence has earned him recognition as a leading lawyer in Myanmar by prestigious publications such as Asialaw Profiles and IFLR 1000.

Nwe has served as a trusted legal advisor to numerous local Myanmar firms, including a prominent information technology company, where he acted as in-house counsel managing a diverse array of legal matters, including human resources, tax issues, commercial agreements, company formation, and business negotiations. At Tilleke & Gibbins, Nwe continues to provide strategic, business-focused counsel on a wide range of corporate and commercial issues, including labor and employment law, customs and tax regulations, project development, joint ventures, distribution, and franchising.

Nwe is also actively involved in dispute resolution, intellectual property rights enforcement, and commercial litigation matters. He leverages his litigation skills and in-depth legal knowledge to navigate complex disputes and achieve favorable outcomes for his clients. Beyond his legal practice, he is a frequent contributor to publications on legal developments in Myanmar related to investment, employment, property law, insurance, and more. Nwe is a member of the Bar Association of Myanmar and a certified insolvency practitioner.


Experience
  • Advised on the rules and regulations of an online payment system for an information technology company. This e-wallet system was the first of its kind in Myanmar.
  • Prepared a business outsourcing contract comprising a security scheme and management system.
  • Advised on data and fee collection agreements with government departments in Myanmar.
  • Checked the validity of and provided legal advice on memorandums of understanding and term sheets of foreign investment schemes.
  • Advised on the master service agreement between an information technology company and a telecommunications operator regarding the extent of service cooperation in Myanmar.
