Giang Thi Huong Tran is a senior associate with the Tilleke & Gibbins corporate and commercial team in Hanoi, specializing in technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT). Giang regularly advises clients across industry sectors in areas including data privacy, broadcasting, e-commerce, online gaming, and more.
Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Giang spent a decade serving as a bridge between foreign clients/agencies and the Vietnamese legal system, working as a legal advisor to Bower Group Asia and the USAID STAR project. She was also previously employed as an officer in the Telecommunication Department of Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communication, where she played a role in developing many of Vietnam’s laws and policies in the TMT fields. In recognition of her outstanding achievements, she has been awarded a medal and several certificates of merit by Vietnamese state bodies.
Giang earned her LLB at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, after winning a competitive AusAID scholarship.
- Participated in national and international projects related to information, communication, and technology, including developing Vietnam’s Law on Information Technology, Law on Electronic Transactions, Decree on Digital Signature and Certification Services, Law on Standards and Technical Regulations, and other legislation.
- Provided comments on many laws and regulations relating to Vietnam’s commitments in the U.S.-Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and Vietnam’s efforts to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
- Served as country co-coordinator for Vietnam in ASEAN project of harmonization of legal infrastructure for e-commerce.
- Researched and analyzed the legal system of Vietnam to assist foreign clients in designing and implementing their action plans, projects, and businesses.
- Advised the U.S. Grain Council and the U.S. International Poultry Development Program on Vietnamese laws and policies.
