Hung Tuan Nguyen is the deputy head of patent in the Vietnam offices of Tilleke & Gibbins, and also the manager of the team's electronics patent practice. Hung has over 15 years of experience in patent prosecution in Vietnam and has handled a wide range of technologies including semiconductors, toughened glass, renewable energy, and displays. His extensive background in engineering allows him to analyze and understand technical systems from both the view of an attorney and the perspective of an inventor. With his unique insight, he is able to help clients identify inventive steps and arrive at solutions for any technicalities that may arise.
Hung holds a degree in Engineering Physics (Electronic Materials) from the Hanoi University of Technology, where he graduated from the Honors Program (Center for Training Talented Engineers) and received various academic awards. He also obtained a Certificate in Creative Thinking and Problem Solving from Vietnam's National Foundation for Science and Technology Development.
Hung is a licensed IP agent and has completed a training course in patent drafting techniques organized by the European Patent Office and the IP Office of Vietnam.
- Assisted a French client in revoking a patent application filed by its Vietnamese subsidiary; making improvements to the invention and drafting a new specification; and drafting a response to the substantive examination results.
- Assisted in obtaining a VIPRI expert opinion on infringement in Vietnam's first-ever patent litigation case related to medical devices.
- Prosecuted over 800 invention and design patent applications from filing to granting.
- Handled a large portfolio of over 200 patent applications for a key client.
- Managed the transfer of over 100 patent applications simultaneously.
