Biography

Eric Meyer is a foreign consultant in the Dispute Resolution Department of Tilleke & Gibbins’ Bangkok office. He is an experienced litigator who has advised and represented large corporations in all phases of litigation before state and federal courts in the United States, and currently serves as a strategic advisor to international clients in Thailand on matters arising out of their Southeast Asian operations.

Eric handles a range of domestic and international contentious insurance, anticorruption, consumer protection, and product liability matters, including lawsuits brought under Thailand’s relatively new class action legislation. Eric also plays a major role in steering parties through international arbitration, from advising clients regarding overall case strategy to preparing witnesses to testify before the arbitral tribunal.

Eric also serves as the firm’s coordinator for pro bono work throughout our seven Southeast Asian offices. In this capacity he has worked on numerous pro bono matters in which he has advised NGOs and other organizations on various aspects of their local operations, particularly regarding potential litigation risks.

Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Eric defended manufacturers in product liability cases involving claims of negligence, strict liability, conspiracy, and fraud. As an integral member of the trial teams in a number of high-profile, multi-defendant wrongful death and personal injury lawsuits, Eric’s responsibilities included the development and implementation of case strategy, the coordination of case strategy with co-defendants, and the management of trial teams. Eric also managed and coordinated the fact investigation, discovery, and pre-trial case development of numerous individual lawsuits that were originally part of a large product liability class action.

Eric is a co-chair of the Legal Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM). In this role, he works with other AMCHAM members in promoting the chamber’s mission of encouraging strong business ties between the United States and Thailand. The Legal Committee participates in this mission by keeping AMCHAM members updated on notable developments in Thai law through various publications and speaking events.

Eric is a U.S.-qualified attorney licensed to practice in the State of Missouri.
