Yen Hai Nguyen is a patent executive with more than 12 years of experience working in the IP field. Yen specializes in the prosecution of patent applications from pre-filing to granting in the areas of biology, biopharmaceuticals, biochemistry, and chemistry, and has processed more than 400 patent cases so far. Yen also handles other matters related to patent such as assignment, annuities, searches, appeals, and recordal of changes to applications to ensure conformity to Vietnamese law and practice.
Yen has completed a SEAD course in Hong Kong as well as courses in drafting patent specifications organized by the IP Office of Vietnam, the Japanese Patent Office, and WIPO. In addition, she has a practicing certificate as a plant variety representative from the Vietnamese Plant Variety Protection Office under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
- Oversaw the prosecution of more than 500 patent and design applications filed in Vietnam, successfully registering many invention patents with the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam, primarily in the fields of biology, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals.
- Translated numerous patent specifications into Vietnamese and prepared documents for filing patent applications with the IP Office of Vietnam.
- Advised clients on the best way to overcome office actions to get patents granted as swiftly as possible.
- Drafted patent specifications for Vietnamese clients for filing Vietnamese patent applications with the IP Office of Vietnam.
- Advised and supported foreign clients on matters of Vietnamese patent law, such as priority rights, refusal/cancellation, appeal, patent searches, and procedures and costs for new application and renewals.
