Ajaree Trachukul is a senior associate in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial department in Bangkok. Ajaree is an experienced lawyer specializing in contentious and noncontentious advisory in insurance, aviation, and maritime matters. Her expertise spans a wide spectrum, from navigating the intricacies of insurance, aviation, and maritime laws to mastering international trade disputes and providing strategic commercial advice. With a deep grounding in technical knowledge of insurance law, Ajaree is a go-to advocate for all insurance-related matters, whether handling claims or providing expert guidance.
Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Ajaree worked at a boutique insurance, maritime, and aviation law firm in Thailand for over 12 years. Ajaree holds an LLB from Thammasat University and an LLM in Private and Business Laws from Chulalongkorn University. She is a member of the Thai Bar Association and the Lawyers Council of Thailand and has completed the barrister-at-law requirements of the Thai Bar Association’s Institute of Legal Education.
- Represented insurance companies in various public liability insurance claims from injured parties affected by an explosion at a plastic pellet manufacturing facility and from injured parties affected by a gas explosion.
- Represented insurance companies in industrial all-risks insurance policy claims stemming from a fire at a major tourist attraction in Pattaya.
- Represented airlines in various cases, including a serious ground collision between an aircraft and an airport bus and a substantial claim arising from damage to an aircraft engine during inland transport by a local carrier.
- Advised international airlines on regulatory requirements for foreign carriers under Thailand’s air transport law, restrictions on the sale of ferry tickets under Thai law, the complexities of merging two foreign carriers to ensure compliance with the licenses and approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, and various other matters.
- Represented multiple international liner services in handling recovery claims against a shipper in Thailand arising from an explosion in a cargo hold caused by the shipper’s dangerous cargo and demurrage and detention claims against the liable shippers and consignees.
