Tuyen An Thuy Nguyen is a counsel in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group, based in the Ho Chi Minh City office. With nearly 15 years of professional experience, she specializes in advising multinational corporations on matters of employment and commercial law, as well as regulations pertaining to consumer products and e-commerce. Her expertise encompasses providing robust guidance and solutions across a wide range of employment issues, including the formulation of corporate employment policies and the drafting of related labor agreements. Tuyen has successfully assisted clients in handling sensitive and complex termination and disciplinary matters.
Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Tuyen worked for 10 years in the corporate and employment practice at one of Vietnam’s top local firms, where she assisted multinational and local companies in M&A transactions and their adherence to corporate and employment regulations. She gained extensive in-house experience during her secondment as legal counsel in Vietnam for one of the world's largest consumer goods companies. Tuyen also has extensive experience in the e-commerce industry, where she served as one of the key legal leaders for four years at a leading e-commerce platform in Vietnam. During this time, she provided comprehensive advice on various regulatory aspects, ranging from business initiatives to product liability, compliance, employment, logistics and litigation matters.
Tuyen is a qualified lawyer in Vietnam and a member of the HCMC Bar Association.
- Served as VP Legal for a top e-commerce platform in Vietnam for four years, where she was responsible for overseeing a wide range of daily operations, including drafting terms and conditions for business programs, developing company operational and employment policies, and providing guidance on managing customer complaints and regulatory requests and audits.
- Advised FMCG companies on their day-to-day operations in Vietnam, which included drafting commercial contracts and providing sound advice on regulatory compliance and audits.
- Advised representative offices of multinational companies in Vietnam on operational and compliance issues related to advertising and promotion, as well as navigating regulatory and compliance requirements in the country.
- Advised a Japanese tobacco company on tobacco regulations related to marketing, advertising, and the operation of its representative office in Vietnam, including addressing complex employment matters.
- Assisted an international payment brand based in Japan with Vietnamese regulations and compliance issues regarding its various promotional and advertising activities targeting its card members in Vietnam.
- Advised leading pharmaceutical companies on compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and the effectiveness of their marketing authorizations in the Vietnamese market.
- Assisted and led teams in conducting due diligence for foreign investors on their acquisition of shares and investment in companies across various industries, including distribution of medical devices, insurance services, securities, solar energy, automobiles, and more.
- Advised a large energy company on developing a risk mitigation strategy for employment issues related to the closure of a significant factory in Vietnam.
- Provided guidance and advice to multinational companies, banks, and local enterprises in drafting employment policies and documents such as labor contracts, internal labor rules, and collective labor agreements, and ensuring adherence to other compliance issues.
