Biography

Petcharat Timpuangtong is a consultant in Tilleke & Gibbins’ regulatory affairs team in Bangkok. She assists businesses on a wide range of matters pertaining to food, cosmetics, and medical devices, including in relation to Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registration and strategy. She also advises companies on requirements and guidelines for importing specific regulated goods, such as fertilizer and children’s toys, and for exporting controlled items, such as products incorporating kratom derivatives.

Companies rely on Petcharat for advice on complex regulatory matters and on-the-ground assistance in fulfilling procedural requirements in Thailand. Her insight into the practical regulatory needs of various business operations in Thailand gives a competitive advantage to companies in the food and beverage, life sciences, consumer goods, and other sectors.

  • Advised an agricultural machinery company on product classification, importation, sale, and license requirements for fertilizing products that could not be registered as fertilizers in Thailand, which required the product label to comply with various Thai consumer protection requirements.
  • Advised the Thai operator of a popular fashion chain on legal requirements for labeling of toys, garment sizing information, and labeling of jewelry embedded with real flowers for sale in Thailand.
  • Advised a Singaporean pharmaceutical developer on license requirements for exportation of food products containing kratom extract and company shareholding limitations in Thailand for conducting the export business.
  • Assisted a company in the printing industry on their variation application and new registration for medical chart paper, a listed medical device (class A).
