Biography

Chayathorn Kruatao is an associate in Tilleke & Gibbins’ dispute resolution department in Bangkok, where he provides a comprehensive range of litigation and advisory services for both civil and criminal matters in Thailand.

His expertise encompasses contractual disputes, torts, criminal offenses, labor and employment disputes, customs and trade disputes, and bankruptcy and insolvency cases. In collaboration with Tilleke & Gibbins’ litigation teams, Chayathorn helps clients develop and implement litigation strategies that further their business goals and allow them to deal smoothly with the unexpected commercial disputes that can arise in the course of doing business in the region.

Chayathorn holds an LLB from Chulalongkorn University.


Experience
  • Advised various leading multinational corporations on complex customs and trade laws, with a focus on antidumping duties, anti-circumvention measures, industry standards compliance, excise taxation disputes, and customs disputes.
  • Defended a leading digital asset exchange in a complex THB 15 million dispute involving detailed technical aspects related to blockchain technology and digital currency transactions, resulting in the dismissal of the case.
  • Represented a financial technology company in a THB 90 million contractual claim involving a breach of a service agreement and achieved a favorable in-court settlement.
  • Acted for a leading steel company in securing accounts receivable, inventory, and machinery in a dispute regarding nonpayment by a local steel manufacturer, achieving a favorable in-court settlement agreement worth approximately THB 250 million.
  • Assisted a leading optical fiber and cable company in a case involving the embezzlement of over THB 30 million by a former employee, which entailed managing pre-litigation and litigation processes, issuing a termination notice without severance, filing a police complaint, and successfully defending the client against criminal allegations.
