Athistha (Nop) Chitranukroh, a partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group and a lead partner in the firm’s technology practice, has been quoted in a Bangkok Post article entitled “Regtech to Get Push of Data Privacy Compliance.”
The article highlights Athistha’s insight into how implementing regulatory technology, or “regtech,” could potentially increase efficiency in regulatory compliance, while reducing the time, costs, and operational risks involved. Her quote, taken from a panel discussion that she moderated at Startup Thailand 2018, raised examples of promising regtech solutions in the market, in addition to mentioning how recent personal data privacy laws, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, make regtech more important than ever.
Athistha’s views were supported by regulators joining her at Startup Thailand 2018—a tech conference attended by more than 60,000 people—including Amphornphan Veerapong, assistant director of the Fintech Department, Securities and Exchange Commission, who cites how the next generation of regtech is expected to significantly improve regulatory oversight of businesses.
