David Lyman’s Views on Constitutional Court Ruling Reported by The Nation Newspaper

The Nation

David Lyman, chairman and chief values officer at Tilleke & Gibbins, was quoted in The Nation newspaper for his comments regarding a recent ruling made by the Thai Constitutional Court. The ruling, which determined the outcome of the government’s planned THB 2 trillion infrastructure projects borrowing bill, deemed the proposed off-budget funding for the projects as unconstitutional.

David, who has lived and worked in Thailand for more than 40 years, said he welcomed the Constitutional Court’s verdict and he believed that foreign investors’ confidence would remain unaffected, since the current political impasse is of greater concern. “Many people are relieved and pleased with the Constitutional Court verdict,” he said. “Development of infrastructure is needed but it should be within budget, and you should not bankrupt the country by doing so.”
