How to Hire and Fire (5th Edition) – Vietnam Chapter

Lawyers at Tilleke & Gibbins have contributed the Vietnam chapter to the latest edition of How to Hire and Fire, a guide that provides an overview of the rules and regulations governing employment relationships in countries around the world.

The Vietnam chapter covers a range of subjects, including collective labor disputes, sources of employment law such as the Labor Code and the Law on Vietnamese Laborers Working Overseas Under Contract, mandatory requirements in employment contracts, the requirement for labor contracts to be made in writing and signed by both the employee and employer prior to the employee’s start of work, labor disciplinary measures for breach of labor rules, six months’ female maternity leave for a single child, the right for employees to voluntarily go on strike, dismissal as the severest labor disciplinary measure, legal retirement ages of 60 for men and 55 for women, and special employment rules for underage, female, disabled, and senior employees, among other subjects.
