John Frangos, a consultant in Tilleke & Gibbins who heads the firm’s aviation practice, was interviewed by Airfinance Journal for his thoughts on a recent case in which a multinational aircraft leasing company repossessed an aircraft that was on lease to a Thai airline. John’s comments were included in an article published on the journal’s website.
Commenting on the outcome of the case, John said it “marks a shift in thinking” and is “certainly a positive development.” Tilleke & Gibbins successfully represented the lessor in the matter, and it was a successful outcome because it represents “the first time, to [John’s] knowledge, that they have deregistered the aircraft without the lessee’s consent or a court order.”
