Market Entry for Plant-Based Meat Substitutes Foodtech Company

Assisted one of the world’s leading food technology innovators known for developing plant-based meat substitutes in establishing a presence and a market for their products in Indonesia and Thailand, including extensive advice on food product registration with local FDAs.

Initially, we were engaged to assist the client with numerous corporate establishment and regulatory compliance issues in Thailand, including establishment of the client’s corporate entity in Thailand, which will serve as the Thai FDA importer and distributor on record, as well as on novel food ingredient safety evaluation before the Thai FDA, and novel food product marketing authorizations and marketing/advertising compliance issues. Our success for the client in Thailand led to our Indonesia office being instructed to assist with registration of novel food products in Indonesia as well.

The significance of this work lies in its complexity and innovative use of food science applications. The deep understanding required by this work can only be done by a law firm that can integrate a solid corporate establishment practice with a top-performing regulatory affairs practice. Our deep knowledge and experience of the Thai regulatory environment for food products is another valuable asset for our client, especially in navigating such issues as authorities’ attitudes toward the growth and extraction of ingredients from genetically modified plant varieties, for instance.
