Nandana Indananda Presents on IP at Japanese Embassy

On March 2, Nandana Indananda, a Partner with the Tilleke & Gibbins IP group, gave a presentation for Japanese embassy officials from several ASEAN countries, who had gathered at the embassy in Bangkok to discuss intellectual property issues throughout the region. The embassy officials were joined at the event by guests from the private sector, who were encouraged to add their views on the key points that Japanese companies should be aware of when contracting with local companies.

Nandana’s presentation, titled “Introduction of Noteworthy Precedent for Thai Intellectual Property,” compared Japanese intellectual property laws with the IP regime in Thailand, and went into the intricacies of the reasoning behind the differences in each country’s approach. To illustrate the impact of these intricacies, Nandana provided an overview of a landmark case involving the copyright protection in Thailand of a famous Japanese cartoon character.
