On February 7, 2020, four lawyers from Tilleke & Gibbins will participate in a seminar titled “Business Opportunities in Cambodia’s Agriculture Sector.” The two-day event is being organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia in conjunction with USAID Cambodia, the US embassy in Phnom Penh, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The seminar offers presentations, interactive sessions, and panel discussions on important current challenges and trends in Cambodia’s fast-growing agricultural business sector. Sustainability will be the focus of several of the scheduled sessions, with speakers and panels variously considering aspects such as sustainable agricultural practices, responsible sourcing of agricultural products, and investment in sustainable agriculture.
The panel from Tilleke & Gibbins will speak on the legal framework surrounding agri-food investment in Cambodia. It will include contributions from Alan Adcock, partner and deputy director of Tilleke & Gibbins’ IP and regulatory affairs practice; Jay Cohen, partner and director of the firm’s Phnom Penh office; and David Mol and Sochanmalisphoung Vannavuth, both advisors in the Phnom Penh office. Besides highlighting the Cambodian legal environment for agribusiness investment, the four will also discuss the regional picture, as well as the firm’s experience and outlook in this sector.
