POSITION SUMMARY

This firm seeks a motivated English-speaking foreign consultant with proficiency in Mandarin for the Dispute Resolution Department. The consultant is expected to have strong expertise and knowledge in litigation and dispute resolution and capabilities in rendering professional advice, particularly for Chinese-speaking clients.

Areas of Responsibility

Consulting Services

  • Assist and advise Thai attorneys in providing oral and written opinions and analytical responses to international clients on various issues which fall under the practices of the Dispute Resolution Department, including, but not limited to, civil and criminal matters, arbitration, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Collaborate with Thai attorneys in analyzing cases, drafting documents, preparing advice, and responding to client inquiries.
  • Formulate strategies, and research when and as necessary to resolve issues and determine the appropriate course of action regarding a particular issue/case.

Client Development and Work and Relationships Management

  • Take initiative in designing and implementing business development and marketing plans for Dispute Resolution group for Thailand office and the firm’s overseas offices in the region.
  • Regularly publish articles and give presentations that increase the firm’s visibility, which results in new business opportunities.
  • Participate in crafting proposals and pitches for new business from current or prospective clients.
  • Identify and participate in relevant conferences as agreed partners/department heads.
  • Take full ownership of work with minimal oversight from partners.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage projects and matters well.

Mentoring

  • Mentor junior associates and consultants and help them in developing legal skills, work management, and client relationships.

Administrative Tasks

  • Manage other administrative tasks in professional and timely manners such as time recording, invoicing, billing, and chasing aged-debt, matter opening, conflicts of interest, etc.

Specification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Post-graduate level of education in law.
  • At least 4 years of experience in litigation and/or dispute resolution.
  • Fluency in English and Proficiency in Mandarin.

  • Communication skills – have excellent written and spoken skills in English and ability to proficiently communicate in Mandarin.
  • Organizational skills – be able to effectively manage multiple assignments and prioritize work.

  • Legal mindset – be able to apply legal principles and draw on experience to develop legal strategies and solve legal problems.

  • Commercial thinking – possess strong business acumen, keep up to date with market trends, and be able to identify business opportunities for the firm.
