Areas of Responsibility
Legal Practice
- Advise clients on a broad range of matters according to the laws and regulations of the relevant jurisdiction.
- Review and analyze newly assigned and existing matters in order to provide appropriate legal representation until the matter is concluded.
- Draft all necessary documents to provide legal representation to clients and direct them through the appropriate office procedures to produce final documents.
- Prepare, review, and handle all types of corporate, investment, and commercial-related agreements, including but not limited to joint venture agreements, shareholder agreements, merger and acquisitions agreements, and other ancillary agreements.
- Advise and communicate regularly with clients regarding the status of their matters while effectively conducting negotiations, when appropriate, to resolve matters on behalf of clients.
- Perform legal research when and as necessary to resolve legal issues and determine the appropriate course of action regarding a particular issue/case.
- Formulate legal strategies, provide legal opinions and analytical responses to clients, and act as the primary point of contact for clients.
Client Development and Work and Relationships Management
- Take initiative in designing and implementing business development and marketing plans for Laos office and the firm’s overseas offices in the region.
- Regularly publish articles and give presentations that increase the firm’s visibility, which results in new business opportunities.
- Participate in crafting proposals and pitch for new business from current or prospective clients.
- Identify and participate in relevant conferences as agreed partner(s)/department heads.
- Take full ownership of work with minimal oversight from partner(s).
- Effectively and efficiently manage projects and matters well.
Administrative Tasks
- Manage other administrative tasks in professional and timely manners such as time recording, invoicing, billing and chasing aged-debt, matter opening, conflicts of interest, etc.
Specification
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputable university.
- Qualified lawyer registered with the Lao Bar Association will be prioritized in the recruitment process.
- At least 10 years of post-qualification experience in general legal practice in Laos.
- Experience in conducting legal research and drawing legal conclusions.
